a-Ha approved girl with The Voice

27 October 2014 sees the UK release of the debut album from rising Norwegian star Tini. ‘Undo My Heart’ is packed with contemporary Pop hits that reflect not only her stunning vocal, but also the involvement of Magne Furuholmen of a-Ha and producer Martin Terefe (Jason Mraz, Cat Stevens (Yusuf), Jamie Cullum, James Morrison). Tini [pronounced ‘teeny’] has written and collaborated with an impressive list of musicians and songwriters, such as KT Tunstall, Sacha Skarbek (Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’), and Cass Lowe, as well as Norwegian colleagues Espen Gulbrandsen, Marius Beck, and Martin Halla. Magne and Martin also contributed songs. ‘Send My Star’ will be the first single released in the UK and is due 17 November.

‘Undo My Heart’ was recorded at Kensaltown Studios in London, which has hosted a string of international artists like Lana Del Rey, James Blunt, James Morrison, a-Ha themselves and Adele over the years. The result is described as pop with a distinct Scandi flavour and melancholic verve, ranging from singer-songwriter to a landscape more reminiscent of Norah Jones and Eva Cassidy.

Tini Flaat shot to fame on the Norwegian version of ‘The Voice’. Whilst it was her rendition of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Both Sides, Now’ that beguiled the viewers, Tini is far more than a mere cipher. This is a girl with ‘The Voice’, the look and the songs to go all the way. Magne Furuholmen starred in the TV show and served as Tini’s mentor. It has proved to be an enduring relationship; Magne knows his way around a Pop hit and it has been his influence that has helped shape the remarkable album that Tini has created.

With a sass and a swing all of her own, Tini has found her own style. Magne Furuholmen had been hunting high and low for an artist to work with; that search is over. Having charmed Scandinavia – a national airline is playing her music on all flights and one of the trendiest bars in Oslo has a cocktail named after her – it’s now time for the UK to fall under her spell. It’s Tini time…
