Taking Sweet Freedom to Russia

URIAH HEEP is marking the 40th anniversary of the seminal 'Sweet Freedom' album by heading out once again to Russia for a tour of the same name. The 'Sweet Freedom' album is had global sales north of four million. The band will play 6 dates across the country ? famously Heep were the first Western act to play behind the 'Iron Curtain' - before continuing on to finish up with four dates in the Ukraine. The band's 'greatest hits and more' set has always been rapturously received in this part of the world and it's somewhere that the band always relishes playing.

Mick Box says:- 'Russia and the Ukraine have become a part of our yearly touring plan and, being able to play our classic hits alongside numbers from our last two studio CDs, it does the heart good to know that the spirit of 'Heep' is still recognised as much now as it was from those momentous shows, when we were the first to play there.'

In true Heep style, the gig schedule is as busy as ever in 2013, playing concerts in Israel, UK [including Download], Belgium, Holland, Spain, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Denmark, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, France and Germany. The band has been confirmed as support for long-time comrades Status Quo on the latter's jaunt through Germany in November. On top of that the band is also confirmed headliner for the Planet Rock Festival [Rock Stock] which takes place on December 8th. This busy year continues the worldwide promotion of 2011's "Into The Wild" album, which has taken in Australia, South Africa, Japan, USA and South America, with all continents once again on the agenda for 2014.

Originally founded by guitarist Mick Box in 1969, Uriah Heep is truly one of the pivotal classic acts that helped define the rock sound and an era. Part of the fabled 'Big Four' alongside Zeppelin, Sabbath and Purple, the Heep story still has a long way to go. With classic songs like "Lady In Black", "Gypsy", "Easy Livin''and "Look at Yourself'' full of ambition, sophisticated writing, memorable tunes and, of course, the vocals - the 5 part harmonies were a clear influence on the operatics of Queen - Uriah Heep has headlined at stadia worldwide: truly they've ensured their place at Rock's top table. They are acknowledged as one of the world's great live acts. Reacting to demand from the passionate Russian fans, during the "Sweet Freedom" tour, the band will feature the title track of this essential album on the tour, as well as the hit "Stealin".

With Mick Box always at the helm, Uriah Heep tours all over the world and is one of music's most exciting and reliable live acts. In a more-than-40-year career Uriah Heep has released 23 studio-albums and sold more than 40 million units; the most recent release was 2011's 'Into The Wild'.

There's more new music to come from the band soon. A new album is being recorded early 2014. Uriah Heep ? still "Very 'eavy, very 'umble". Still unmissable.
