Album: Indigenous ? Featuring Mato Nanji

'Indigenous-Featuring Mato Nanji,' will be released through the Provogue/Mascot Label Group on 21 May 2012 [Cat. No. PRD739029]. Mato Nanji, longtime front man of the Native American blues-rock band says: "I always want to approach each recording project in search of a different sound and voice that I've used before". On his 8th album for the label he does just that. The new CD stretches Mato's already established musicianship into a hard-hitting, guitar-driven package of musical excursions and playful songwriting.

Joining Mato on the opening song is the soulful Jonny Lang. 'Free Your Mind' is a hook-laden track providing the groundwork for two true guitar masters to jam it out without borders or fences. The duo has been working together on the Experience Hendrix Tour for a number of years along with other guitar heroes including Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Robert Randolph and Los Lobos legend, David Hidalgo. Like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Jonny Winter, Indigenous' songs are centered on a strong lead singer/lead guitarist. Frontman Mato Nanji is, without a doubt, one of the most impressive blues-rock players/singers on the circuit today.

1/ Free Yourself, Free Your Mind 2/ Everywhere I Go 3/ Jealousy 4/ Someone Like You 5/ I Was Wrong To Leave You 6/ No Matter What It Takes 7/ Storm 8/ Find My Way 9/ All Those Lies 10/ The Way I Feel 11/ Wake Up 12/ By My Side 13/ When Tomorrow Comes

"I've always wanted to do a project like this" says Nanji. "These are good songs, done in a more musical way than any of my previous recordings" he says of working with Mike Varney. "This CD is a mix od all of the CD's that I've done in the past, more of the rootsy-blues CD?a mixture of influences: Jr. Kimbrough, R.L. Burnside, and the Red Devils to name a few. Showcasing a little more rock & blues, I had a great time making it! I'm looking forward to rocking these songs with the band out on the road".

On this album, Mato Nanji has pulled a new band together around himself, replacing the family unit that had played on many previous recordings and this process seems to have energized him yet further. Indigenous have a large worldwide following and will be touring soon; don't miss them or this album.
