8 February 2012

New band from former members of Stratovarius,
Mystic Prophecy, Symfonia and Evergrey

The eponymous debut album by Devil's Train gets its release on 5 March 2012 via Edel's international rock label, earMUSIC distributed in the UK & Republic of Ireland by Absolute via Universal. Featuring renowned names like vocalist, producer and mastermind R.D Lipiakis [frontman of German power metal act Mystic Prophecy], Jorg Michael [one of the most eminent drummers on earth and former member of Stratovarius], guitarist Lakis Ragazas and, lst but not least, bassist Jari Kainulainen [Symfonia, ex-Stratovarius, ex-Evergrey], Devil's Train are ready to thrill the rock world.

Devil's Train have set the bar high with their debut recording and will surprise their many fans by proving that, although they made their names in power metal, they have the chops to produce the bluesy and groovy rock that typifies much of the 'Devil's Train' album. The band's furious opener 'Fire and Water' and the dynamic 'To The Ground' showcase Devil's Train heady blend of rock, metal, blues and even soul, contrasting deliciously with the sensitive ballad 'Forever' and the melancholy groove rocker 'Coming Home'. The finale of this impressive debut album is marked by the band's rendition of The Guess Who Classic 'American Woman'.

Perhaps Liapakis sums it up best, "We're all totally into riff-based blues rock n roll along the lines of bands such as Bad Company, Blue Murder and Badlands. But I consciously picked musicians from the power metal sector for Devil's Train ? on the one hand to surprise the fans, and on the other to make sure that the result would sound really dynamic. We play in a very bluesy, occasionally even soulful style, but all the songs are based on strong guitar parts and come across as anything but mainstream." All aboard!
