Purple's Gillan and Sabbath's Iommi

WhoCares release "Out Of My Mind / Holy Water" on 9 May 2011 on CD Enhanced Single and Limited Edition 7" vinyl single via Edel's international rock label, earMUSIC distributed in the UK & Republic of Ireland by Absolute via Universal. Having worked together on the Black Sabbath album "Born Again," Ian Gillan and Tony Iommi have now set up one of the biggest-ever super-bands ? and it's all for a good cause. Joining them are Jon Lord on keyboards (partner with Gillan on all the Deep Purple classics), Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain, ex Metallica bass player Jason Newsted and HIM guitar player Linde Lindstr?m.

This new project has come about with a specific aim in mind - rebuilding the music school in Gyumari, Armenia. Both Gillan and Iommi have spent a lot of time in Armenia whilst touring and have fallen in love with the country and the people. The nation that was struck by a massive earthquake on December 7, 1988 has been mostly re-built but certain structures of the society have yet to be - one specific example is the Gyumari music school. All of the money raised from this single will be going directly to the fund to re-building it. Gillan and Iommi pulled together this new band to really provide the support that is needed after such disasters, having the best intentions is not enough, these impulses must be acted upon.

Whilst truly giving something back to a place they love, the WhoCares project is also a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the rest of the world to hear a new brilliant blend of top musicians. The CD single contains "Out Of My Mind" (an epic hard rock classic, destined to become a hard rock milestone), "Holy Water" and a 30-minute documentary that shows Gillan's and Iommi's involvement with the Armenian cause over the years. Also being released is the extremely limited 7'' vinyl edition featuring both tracks - only 1,000 numbered copies will exist world-wide, making these the rarest of rarities.

WhoCares? It's time to show that you do!
